Practice Description and Philosophy
I have been licensed to practice independently in California since 1983. My practice involves mostly assessment and treatment of adults ages 35 and older. Occasionally, I work with younger people, but I usually limit this to individuals who have medical problems, such as, physical pain or sleep difficulties. My practice is divided among existential psychotherapy, behavioral medicine, presurgical psychological screenings for pain implants, and marital therapy. Specialties include sleep disorders, chronic pain, trauma, depression, anxiety, infertility, psychosomatic disorders, infidelity, and midlife concerns. Treatment modalities include individual psychotherapy, marital therapy, and clinical hypnosis. I have been a visiting clinical professor at the Universidad de Iberomerica(UNIBE) in San Jose, Costa Rica. UNIBE is a graduate educational institution in the health sciences that educates and prepares students to become nurses, pharmacists, psychologists, and physicians. Finally, I am on staff at Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center as well as Casa Colina Hospital for Rehabilitative Medicine, both in Pomona, California. I am frequently called into either hospital by the treating physician for psychological consultations.
Philosophy
I work with people who are distressed about their lives and want to make their lives more satisfying. My hope is that each person with whom I work wants to be more of the person they feel they can be but haven't yet been able to be. In doing so, each person can become genuinely close with intimate others and be able to get past their own invisible
barriers. For most of us, there is more awaiting us inside ourselves that can push us to live fuller, richer, and more rewarding lives
